    Rosette Away v Rotherham

    The Rosette was made by my Grandma, Ada Shaw and was tied to my Father’s (Peter Thompson) car radiator for the drive to the Tigers away fixture at Rotherham on 27 December 1948. A game that resulted in a 0-0 draw in front of 22,159 spectators. The other passengers were my Grandfather Ernest Shaw, Mr Dean and Mr Ombler. City had won the Christmas Day fixture at Boothferry Park 3-2 two days earlier in front of 49,655 spectators. City went on to win the 3rd Division North Title with 65 points under the managership of Raich Carter. Rotherham finish 2nd with 62 points.
